Gareth is founder and managing director of Belfast-based Verbatim Communications Ltd, which specialises in public affairs, planning consultancy and issues/crisis management.

Established in 2010, Verbatim Communications has a local and international client base which spans the construction, renewable energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, legal, fast moving consumer goods, entertainment and tourism sectors.

A highly skilled negotiator, Gareth has worked for, and with, government at a national, regional and local level over the last two decades, managing stakeholders, delivering against strategic objectives and building advocacy. He has successfully implemented hundreds of campaigns to build awareness of issues and influence government policy.
A confident communicator, Gareth routinely briefs senior management teams, directors and internal audiences. In terms of government he regularly liaises with elected representatives and officials and compiles reports for regulatory bodies and committees. Depending on the nature of the brief, Gareth also presents to, or meets with, local community groups.

With specific expertise in planning and an extensive network of skilled associates, Gareth provides a comprehensive planning consultancy service which is tailored to each client’s individual needs. The agency offers a strategic integrated approach whilst adhering to a strict confidentiality policy.

Prior to establishing Verbatim Communications, Gareth held senior positions in politics. For seven years he served as a local government councillor and Alderman. During this period, he was Chairman of a number of different departments, most notably the Council’s Technical and Environmental Services Committee.

He also worked to support a Westminster MP in the House of Commons and a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Northern Ireland, as well as at constituency level for ten years.
