Turning Fine-Dining Discipline into an Award-Winning Street Food Brand

Business Overview

Street Food Atelier was established by Artur Fron, a seasoned chef with over 15 years of experience in professional kitchens, including senior positions in Michelin Guide-recognised restaurants.

Located at the Portview Trade Centre in East Belfast, Street Food Atelier launched in February last year, with a clear focus: to bring fine dining technique, structure, and discipline into the Belfast street food scene.

This isn’t typical fast food. Each menu is created like a tasting journey, thoughtfully structured, balanced, and storytelling-driven. The concept changes roughly six times a year, with each version highlighting a different country or cuisine. Over the last year, Street Food Atelier has offered Greek, Brazilian, Polish, Spanish, Italian, Costa Rican, and seasonal concepts, each featuring eight fully developed dishes.

From day one, the ambition was clear. This was never just a food truck. It was a developing food brand with strong identity and long-term growth ambitions.

The Challenge

While Artur brought exceptional culinary expertise, scaling a food concept requires more than technical kitchen skills.

Key areas requiring support included:

  • Strategic business development
  • Structured growth planning
  • Funding awareness and access
  • Marketing direction and brand positioning
  • Long-term commercial planning

The challenge was to ensure the creative vision was supported by solid business foundations.

Strategic Mentoring

Through East Belfast Enterprise, Clare collaborated with Artur to enhance the brand’s commercial framework.

Her support focused on:

  • Clarifying business direction and growth priorities
  • Providing strategic marketing guidance
  • Advising on funding opportunities and development support
  • Encouraging long-term thinking beyond day-to-day operations
  • Acting as a sounding board while pushing for higher ambition

Artur particularly valued Clare’s honest, practical approach and her ability to combine encouragement with clear strategic challenge. Rather than simply advising, she worked to ensure the business was thinking bigger, planning properly and moving with intention.

Results in the First Year

The impact of combining culinary excellence with structured business development has been impressive.

In its first year, Street Food Atelier:

  • Received three nominations at the Street Food Awards
  • Won World Food Takeaway of the Year
  • Was featured in The Irish News as “fine dining on wheels”
  • Catered private dining events, festivals, rugby fixtures and corporate functions
  • Expanded into second locations
  • Built a strong and recognisable brand presence across Belfast

Behind the scenes, the business operates with disciplined systems, including menu research and development, cost control, supplier relationships, seasonal sourcing, and refined kitchen processes, all of which contribute to consistent quality and scalability.

A loyal customer base now follows each new country release, reinforcing brand identity and creating anticipation around each menu launch.

In Artur’s Words

“I’ve had an excellent experience with East Belfast Enterprise, and in particular with Clare, who has been an outstanding mentor to me through the Go Succeed programme.

Clare’s support has been genuine, practical and incredibly valuable. She takes the time to really understand your business, challenges and goals, and then provides clear guidance, encouragement and honest advice. Her knowledge of business development, funding, marketing and local support opportunities has made a real difference to my progress.

What stands out most is Clare’s approach – supportive, professional and proactive, while always pushing you to think bigger and more strategically. The mentoring has helped me gain confidence, clarity and direction as I continue to grow my business.”

Street Food Atelier is now positioned not simply as a street food operator, but as a developing culinary brand with a clear identity, disciplined systems and strong growth potential. The combination of creative excellence and structured business mentoring has laid the groundwork for sustainable expansion.
