East Belfast Enterprise is delighted to announce the appointment of Glyn Roberts as its new Chair.
A proud East Belfast man, born, raised and educated locally, Glyn brings more than 25 years of experience supporting businesses right across Northern Ireland. As Chief Executive of Retail NI, and through previous senior roles with the Federation of Small Businesses and others, he has spent his career championing independent businesses and helping entrepreneurs grow.
Now, he’s bringing that experience home.
Speaking about his new role, Glyn said:
“I’m incredibly passionate about East Belfast and its potential to be one of the best places in the city to start and grow a business. I put myself forward for this role because I wanted to give something back to the community where I was born, bred, work and live. At this stage in my career, I want to use my experience and networks to make a real difference locally.”
As Chair, Glyn will work alongside the Board and the team at East Belfast Enterprise to make sure the organisation continues to grow, support local businesses and create opportunities for entrepreneurs.
Jonathan McAlpin, Chief Executive of East Belfast Enterprise, welcomed the appointment:
“We’re absolutely delighted to have Glyn on board as Chair. He understands business, he understands leadership – and most importantly, he understands East Belfast.
Our role is to support people on their start-up journey, help local businesses develop and create opportunities within our community. Glyn shares that passion and we’re excited about what’s ahead.”

Jonathan also paid tribute to outgoing Chair Duncan Graham for his commitment and contribution over many years.
Looking to the future, Glyn is clear about what he wants to see:
“East Belfast Enterprise should be ambitious, outward-looking and known as a real catalyst for enterprise in this part of the city. I want to see us continue to grow, build strong partnerships and deliver first-class support to our tenants and the entrepreneurs we work with. East Belfast was once the economic engine room of Northern Ireland – and I believe we can help make it a powerhouse again.”
East Belfast Enterprise exists to support entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses through workspace, business support programmes and a strong, supportive enterprise community.
