At East Belfast Enterprise, we’re always looking for ways to support local businesses while building a sustainable future for our community. That’s why we’re delighted to announce the completion of a brand-new solar PV installation at our City East building on the Newtownards Road.
Delivered by Dowds Group and supported by Action Renewables, the 49kWh photovoltaic (PV) system marks our largest solar project to date. Over the next 25 years, this investment will not only help us cut energy costs but also significantly reduce our carbon footprint – benefits that will be felt by both East Belfast Enterprise and the ambitious businesses who call our building home.
Supporting Local Business Through Sustainability
For us, sustainability isn’t just about reducing bills – it’s about ensuring that East Belfast Enterprise continues to be a modern, innovative base for local entrepreneurs. Lower running costs mean we can keep our services competitive, offering flexible office, meeting, and coworking space for small businesses across East Belfast.
“At East Belfast Enterprise we are always seeking ways to innovate and reduce our environmental impact. This solar installation during Sustainable September is a practical step forward, and we’re grateful to Action Renewables for making it accessible. Not only will it help us cut costs, but it sends a clear message to our tenants and partners about our commitment to sustainability.”
Jonathan McAlpin, CEO of East Belfast Enterprise
Action Renewables Leading the Way
Action Renewables, a Belfast-based environmental charity, runs a Solar PV Programme designed to help non-profit organisations across Northern Ireland invest in renewable energy. By taking part in the programme, East Belfast Enterprise has been able to secure long-term savings while making a visible commitment to greener business practices.
“East Belfast Enterprise plays a vital role in supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs. We’re delighted to support them in becoming more energy resilient and environmentally conscious. This is another great example of how local organisations can lead by example in the transition to a greener economy.”
Lana Moore, Head of Charity Delivery at Action Renewables
Looking Ahead
With electricity prices continuing to rise, this investment helps ensure that East Belfast Enterprise remains a forward-thinking hub for small businesses in Belfast. It’s another step in our mission to create the best possible environment for entrepreneurs to start, grow, and thrive.
