At East Belfast Enterprise, our mission has always been about more than just providing office space or business support – we’re here to build a thriving community where people and enterprises can grow together. That’s why we’re proud to share that we’ve been officially accredited as a Living Wage Employer by the Living Wage Foundation.
This recognition means that all our staff, as well as third-party contracted staff who work regularly with us, now receive at least the Real Living Wage – currently £12.60 across the UK. Unlike the government minimum wage, this rate is independently calculated to reflect the real cost of living. It’s updated annually and backed by thousands of employers who believe in one simple principle: a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.

Putting People at the Heart of What We Do
“This accreditation as a Living Wage Employer isn’t just about a payslip – it’s about respect and putting people at the heart of everything we achieve.
Jonathan McAlpin, Chief Executive of East Belfast Enterprise
At East Belfast Enterprise, we value our people deeply and encourage them to thrive professionally and personally. Paying the Real Living Wage is a practical and powerful way to show our commitment to our team. When an organisation pays staff fairly, it improves staff morale, retention, and motivation. It uplifts families, strengthens businesses, and contributes to a healthier and more resilient community.”
Building a Stronger Business Community
Our role in East Belfast is to support ambitious entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small businesses. From affordable office space in East Belfast to expert mentoring and training, everything we do is designed to create the right environment for local businesses to succeed.
Gaining Living Wage Employer status is another step in that journey. It aligns perfectly with our mission to create inclusive, supportive spaces – not just for our tenants, but for the people behind the businesses too.
Leading by Example
We hope our decision inspires other employers across Northern Ireland, particularly in the voluntary sector, to consider Living Wage accreditation.
“We hope our accreditation sends a clear message to our community and peers that fair pay matters. We encourage other employers to consider the long-term benefits of paying the Real Living Wage.”
Jonathan McAlpin, Chief Executive of East Belfast Enterprise
By joining over 14,000 accredited employers across the UK, East Belfast Enterprise is proud to stand alongside organisations that are committed to fairness, dignity, and putting people first.
