The Community Hot Desk: The Foundry Hot Desk and Laptop Scheme
We offer a limited number of supported desk sessions for individuals in East Belfast who need access to space and equipment for work, study, or early-stage business activity.
Hot-desking

A quiet place to work, study, or build something – when home isn’t an option
Not everyone has the space, equipment, or quiet environment they need to study, job hunt, or work on a business idea.
With support from the Social Economy Incentive Fund, alongside match funding from East Belfast Enterprise, we are offering a limited number of supported desk sessions for individuals in the East Belfast community who need short-term access to a professional workspace.
This initiative is designed for people who may not have suitable space at home, or who need access to a laptop and reliable internet to make meaningful progress.
How it works
Supported desk sessions are available on:
- Monday
- Thursday
- Friday
Each person can use up to 8 hours split over multiple sessions and must be booked in advance.
Participants can access:
- A workspace
- For a maximum of 8 hours
- With access to a laptop if needed
Spaces are strictly limited to 2 desks per session.
Who it is for
This support is intended for people in East Belfast over the age of 18 who need space to:
- Study or complete coursework
- Apply for jobs
- Work on CVs or applications
- Develop early-stage business ideas
- Work on business proposals, websites, or start-up activity
A structured support programme
This is a short-term, focused support programme delivered through a combination of external funding and Foundry match funding.
It is not open-access hot desking and does not replace full membership. By keeping sessions limited and structured, we can support those who need it while protecting the experience of our existing co-working members.
What happens after 8 hours?
Participants who wish to continue using the space will be offered a special introductory rate of 20% off for their first month at The Foundry co-working space at East Belfast Enterprise, creating a clear pathway into the wider co-working community.
